Tumbles but stays cold
The drum turns and the timer counts down, yet the load comes out as cool and wet as it went in.
Often points to
heating element, thermal fuse, gas igniter or valve coils

Types we repair
Symptoms
A dryer rarely dies without warning. Longer cycles, a new noise or a hot smell usually come first.
The drum turns and the timer counts down, yet the load comes out as cool and wet as it went in.
Often points to
heating element, thermal fuse, gas igniter or valve coils
There's some heat, just not enough, and towels need another round.
Often points to
restricted vent, cycling thermostat, LG d80 to d95 airflow codes
It starts normally, quits mid-cycle and won't restart until it cools down.
Often points to
thermal cut-off, overheating motor, blocked exhaust
A high squeal on every rotation, or a steady thud as the drum turns.
Often points to
drum rollers, idler pulley, worn belt
The lights come on and pressing start does nothing, or it hums without turning.
Often points to
door switch, start switch, broken belt, drive motor
The top feels hotter than usual or the room smells of scorched lint. Stop using it.
Often points to
lint inside the cabinet, failed high-limit thermostat
Typical causes
A dryer needs heat, airflow and a drum that turns freely. When one slips, it stops heating, stops turning or starts to make noise.
A one-time safety fuse sits on the exhaust duct. When hot air can't leave fast enough it blows, cutting the heat or, on many models, the whole dryer.
What you notice
A dead dryer or a cold tumble, often after months of slow drying.
What gets checked
A new fuse alone would blow again, so airflow at the outlet is measured before the job is called finished.
Electric dryers heat with a coiled element that eventually breaks. Gas models use an igniter that glows and two valve coils that open the gas; weak coils light the burner and then let it go out.
What you notice
No heat at all, or heat that comes and goes.
What gets checked
Element continuity on electric units; on gas units, the igniter cycle and both valve coils.
The drum rides on rollers or glides and turns on a long belt kept tight by an idler pulley. Every load wears them a little.
What you notice
Squeal, rumble, or a drum that spins far too easily by hand.
What gets checked
Rollers are normally replaced as a set so the drum stays level.

FAQ
Have a question about your dryer that isn't covered? Phone (289) 670-3413.
Lint collects in the duct faster than most people expect, especially on long runs to a side wall. Empty the lint screen every load and have the whole run cleaned about once a year.
LG's Flow Sense codes d80, d90 and d95 mean the exhaust is roughly 80, 90 or 95 percent restricted. The dryer keeps running, but slower and hotter until the vent is cleared.
Yes, both gas and electric. Mention the fuel type when you call. If you ever smell gas, get everyone outdoors first and phone Enbridge Gas or 911 from the driveway.
Usually the dryer has to come down or forward a little for access. Tell us the closet width and whether it's a one-piece laundry centre or two machines stacked.
Squeaking usually means worn rollers or a tired idler pulley. It's less urgent than a burning smell, but a seized pulley can snap the belt and stop the dryer completely.
